What is Agentic Commerce? How Will AI Agents Buy From You in B2B and SaaS?

Agentic Commerce: Can AI Agents Buy From You?

Throughout my marketing career, I have always developed strategies according to the same basic rule: Understand human psychology, appeal to emotions and rationalize with logic. But what if the customer in front of you is an "Artificial Intelligence Agent" (AI Agent) that has no emotions and only analyzes thousands of data points in seconds?

Introducing the new concept that will rewrite the rules of digital marketing and sales: Agentic Commerce.

Currently, the content world in Türkiye talks about this issue only on the axis of B2C and e-commerce (personal shopping assistants). But as a marketing executive, there's a much bigger and more profitable revolution on my radar: Selling to machines in the B2B and SaaS market.

What Does the Data Say? The Age of "Machine Customers" in the B2B Market

This isn't just a futuristic theory. Data published by the world's largest research companies show that the B2B purchasing cycle has changed radically:

  • According to Braze data; The use of shopping and transactions through agents is expected to increase from 19% to 46% by the end of 2026. In other words, almost one in every two purchasing decisions will be made through artificial intelligence-supported autonomous systems.

  • According to Gartner's striking prediction; AI agents (or 'Machine Customers' as Gartner calls them) will mediate a volume of exceeding $15 trillion in global B2B spending by 2028.

When purchasing a new CRM, cyber security infrastructure or cloud service, companies no longer assign the research task to an intern or assistant specialist; It gives it to AI agents prompted (trained) with budget, integration capacity and technical requirements.

Why Is Agentic Commerce More Critical Than E-Commerce for B2B and SaaS?

Emotions, brand perception and instant impulses come into play when buying a t-shirt in e-commerce. However, in the B2B and SaaS world, the purchasing process is rational, long, and revolves around "feature/benefit/cost."

A company's IT manager can give the following command to an AI agent developed specifically for her company: "Find the top 3 SaaS solutions that can be 100% integrated with our company's existing ERP system via API, whose monthly license cost does not exceed $ 50 per user and have ISO 27001 certification, simulate their quotes and report to me."

That's exactly what Agentic Commerce is. You are not dealing with a person you need to convince, but an algorithm that scans your website, documentation and APIs.

How Will B2B SaaS Brands Sell to “AI Agents”?

So, as marketing and growth teams, how should we update our strategies to get a share of this 15 trillion dollar cake? Below I have summarized the 3 basic rules of Marketing to Machines for B2B brands.

1. Optimize Content for Machines, Not People (AIO)

Traditional SEO is based on a person searching on Google. AI Agents go much deeper than traditional search results. AI agents look at your website's semantic structure, Schema Markup (structured data) codes, and clear, structured data to pull information. Fancy marketing phrases (“We are rewriting the rules of the industry!”) are meaningless to an AI agent. Your site; “What do you do?”, “For whom?”, “What technologies is it compatible with?” It should provide direct answers to your questions that can be easily read by the machine.

2. The Era of "Secret Pricing" and "Closed Documentation" is Ending

One of the favorite methods of B2B companies is to hide prices and direct them to the "Get a Quote" button. Or making the technical API documentation available only to system members. AI agents waste no time. If the agent's algorithm cannot externally scan your API integration capacity or base prices (at least the starter packages), it will not shortlist you autonomously. Transparent SaaS companies that leave information open will be ahead 1-0 in this race.

3. AI vs. RFP (Request for Proposal) Processes. AI Battle

In the future, in B2B purchasing processes, companies' AI agents will talk to suppliers' AI agents. You will need your own "Sales Agents" who can instantly present your brand's technical features, security infrastructure and cost advantages to the other party and produce autonomous responses. Solution partnerships, integration markets (Integration Marketplaces) and technical technical case studies (Case Studies) will be the most critical sources of nutrition for AI agents to label you as "trustworthy".

Our New Target Audience: Machines

As a marketing world, we will never stop selling to people; because a person will always make the final signature. However, on the way to the table, AI agents will now determine the "Top 3 suppliers" list that is put in front of the CEO or CTO who will make that final decision.

If your website, content and technical infrastructure are not structured in a language that these autonomous machine customers can understand, it is only a matter of time before you will be left off that list.

Have you ever thought about how ready your B2B and SaaS brand is for the world of Agentic Commerce? Do your marketing teams have strategies for this new “machine” audience? Let's discuss the issue on LinkedIn, because we are still at the very beginning of this revolution.
